Oil on canvas, on cardboard. 1928. Ca. 32 x 24 cm. Signed, dated and inscribed “Paris” lower left.
• Atmospheric late work from the last trip to Paris in 1928
• Unique depiction of the foggy light of the March sun
• Shown at the important solo exhibitions of Lesser Ury"s works in 1928 and 1931
• The dark trees on the banks of the Seine lead diagonally into the centre of the picture, where the long road trails off into on the horizon
• All contours seem to dissolve into splashes of blue, grey, yellow, orange and pink in the pale backlit scene
Fixed in frame. Not removed from frame for cataloguing.
With an expertise by Dr. Sibylle Groß, Berlin, dated 22.3.2009. This work will be included in the forthcoming Catalogue Raisonné of paintings, pastels and works in gouache and watercolour by Lesser Ury.
